I've again been busying enjoying the finest weather Scotland has seen for a long time with a tour. Despite being due in work for 9am on Sunday (the last day of the good weather) I decided that in actual fact, that was no barrier whatsoever to having a morning tour.

So, I awoke at 3:45am. Had breakfast and ventured out on a small tour. Knowing I had to be in the city for just after 8am to get second breakfast I couldn't go terribly far. A matter compounded by the fact the tank was 1/4 full and there are hardly any filling stations openned at that time on a Sunday, especially in the country.

As you know I have toured extensively in the last 4 weeks but hadn't done of of my favourite runs for a while, the run up to Inverarray on the A83 then taking the A819 which loops over the back of Inverrary and over to Loch Awe.

The road works have also been completed at the pass of the Rest and Be Thankful meaning I had an uninterrupted drive up to where I needed to be.

The mission was to photograph Kilhurn castle just after sunrise. This meant driving up in the most wonderful golden light without any traffic around, and more importantly, it was warm so I had the window down, and the lovely fresh air lapping in.

I wanted to be at Kilhurn castle for 530am and back on the road for 620am to make my work and 2nd breakfast on time.

As I like monochrome things like silver estate cars with black interiors this fits the bill

As does this.

Worth the trip. You bet.

A few people were there fishing and some campers there too broke up the scene, but can you blame them. With such wonderful scenery only 90mins from Glasgow, why would you want to go there, when you can be here?

Sadly, this is where my fun ended and I had to return to Glasgow, work was needed and second breakfast, plus I was very low on fuel. The drive back down the A83 was lovely as it snakes along the bonnie banks of Loch Fyne and the C sport can really take advantage of roads like this. Over the top road it can take 60mph practically round ALL the turns making for a steller economy on this run. Sadly, a urban traffic slowed an average speed which was knocking on close to 60mph.

After work, I frequented Charcoals Indian restaurant and had a curry (long half day at work), and this restaurant comes highly recommended. So chuft with myself I thought I'd take a drive down to Dumfrieshire to photograph some castles. The weather was not to be.

But the drive up the A702 was an awful lot of fun, this could the spot of a future tour.

Is there anything the C class estate cannot do? Superb tourer, commuter car, eco friendly economy car, bed for the night? Still doesn't stop me wanting an SLK in that competition I've entered for the weekend though:lol::lol:

Reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons where Homer and Marge attend a school reunion. Homer collects an award (for most weight gain since leaving school) and credits his achievement by saying "I discovered a meal between breakfast and brunch".

Aye, its called second breakfast. To be a second breakfast it has to be consumed before the start of your working day. Brunch is consumed after 2nd breakfast but within the morning part of your working day. Lunch, as you say it, is merely lunch :lol:

breakfast at 4am, second breakfast at 8am. Its still not enough but to cram in a tour before work, most excellent.
