I'm looking for some advice on towing my auto 190E.
I am bring the car to a garage to get the transmission replaced (lost all fwd drive -reverse OK). The distance is 60 miles, engine runs fine.
I plan to get towed with engine running and gearbox in 'N'. Any advice or precautions would be appreciated.

Have you not got AA or RAC cover? They will put it on a truck for you.

If not, i guess your box has had it anyway, so no real harm, but i would be careful towing any car for 60 miles.

I would go and buy one of those solid tow bars from halfords or wherever. Theyre not that expensive and itll mean less stress on your tow hooks when coming to a stop and taking off etc. Also you dont have to rely on the mercs brakes.
Also, if you keep engine running, make sure you keep an eye on the temp!

Cheers and good luck
