Towing with my w202 c180

i have a 95 c180 esprit and were thinking of buying a 4 berth caravan, ive been told i can tow a 1300kg van but not sure how true this is!!

ive towed speed boats and a 21ft fishing boat with no problems, im just worried if ill kill my merc or if ill have to buy another car

I am sure that it gives the max tow weight in the handbook

Max towing weight 1600kg wih a nose weight max of 75kg

As a guide, you want to tow no more than 80% of the cars kerbweight ... a little more if your experienced at towing ..and never more than 100%

I have considered towing with my 95 C class but decided that it could strain the 100K mile Auto Box to much!, this may be a consideration for you ,or members may tell us they can stand it easily?

ive done 170,000 now but it is manual, she may die yet lol, i towed the caravan, seemed ok, we went for a 1000kg van instead:lol:
