TPMS delete on 2016 A180d

Hi all,

I've recently bought some alloys from a 2020 A250e to put on my wife's 2016 W176 A180d but it won't recognise the TPMS on the new wheels.

I don't want to fork out to replace all the sensors as we are selling the car so I'm looking for a garage ideally in North Wales or the Liverpool/Manchester area that can delete the TPMS.

Everywhere I've tried so far can't/won't do it. Any recommendations please?

Put the tpms valves from the old wheels into the new wheels .

New tpms for a 2016 can be bought for as little as £65 for a full set. Durosense

No tpms light is also a MOT failure.

Yep....you need to sort it not delete it. Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) became mandatory for all new passenger car models starting November 1, 2012, and for all newly registered passenger vehicles from November 1, 2014. In the UK, a broken or faulty TPMS warning light became an automatic MOT test failure starting January 1, 2015. TPMS is a legal testable item. If the dashboard warning light stays on due to a system fault or does not come on at all or has missing/broken sensors, it is a major fail.

if you delete the TPMS does the car not revert to the basic tyre deflation monitoring ie use the ABS to tell you that you have a flat/soft tyre somewhere?

Yep, OP needs to find an Indy with star to code out the direct tpms at which point the old indirect tpms (abs sensor detection) will work as normal, but the op should really then swap the valves to standard ones too which may cost him £40

Surprised they have both systems operational....would have thought it would be one or the other fitted. Every days a school day.

it is one or the other as such, the indirect is just a function of wheel speed difference via the ABS loop, the direct uses the sensors, but if the car's told it doesn't have that option fitted it does revert to the indirect version.

Hi, So doing this wouldn't remove the warning light altogether?
Would it still illuminate when the ignition is first turned on and then go out once the engine has started?
And would it also still detect low tyre pressure if it reverts to the indirect version?

If you changed the valves to standard and rely on the classic speed sensor wont the cars computers be expecting a signal from the expected rf senders in the intended valves throwing an error.

You won’t get to see the pressure values, you’ll just get a warning once already driving that a tire pressure is low and to check them
