So ladies and gents, at 8090 miles I have a TPMS fault. My trusty i980 tells me "faulty connection to sensor #3".

Question, is this an expensive fix, and is it covered under warranty? Car was delivered in late February.

Thanks. Well I guess it should be fixed free by MB under warranty.

Definitely take it to MB Craig. As you say, it should be covered under warranty as not classed as a wear and tear item.

And another, take it to Mercedes and they can say it was caused be a stone chip or a pot hole.

I fixed it. "Reset system default pressures to current values" bosh!

on my bike it says always tell tyre fitters you have TPMS before they work on the tyres. I always say and they always get upset that I said.

then my friend with a 2016 Mondeo got a puncture and the tyre monitoring system said low pressure, he got that fixed, then got another puncture on the same wheel, got that fixed and from then on the tyre monitoring system said low pressure and would not clear.

then he showed me a picture saying that one of the tyres TPMS sensors was unserviceable, I said don't be stupid you don't have them. He said he did, I looked at the valve stem and said no you haven't and if you did you'll have a real display of each tyres reading on the dash (he hasn't).

then he got another puncture and ATS handed him a smashed to bits TPMS sensor with a std looking valve stem attached. So it appears Ford fit ones that from the outside look just like a std valve stem so the garages don't know to be careful.... so try to remember to be careful when you drop your car off for work on the tyres !!!
