Hi, I got my Goodyear tyres fitted finally lol
Sorry for posting on here... I don’t know how to start a new post

however, I need your valuable advice on tracking...
the mechanic says they don’t do tracking for Mercedes ‍♀️
Apparently I need to take it to Mercedes specialist. “Standard machines won’t work on Mercedes and the problem will only come back and wear my tyres out again.

The car rumbles at 70mph approx and the steering wheel pulls to one side approx 45o

Is this correct, I have to find a Mercedes specialist?
Thank you

Ideally it need a proper 4 wheel tracking doing on something like a hunter machine.
Kwik fit have the equipment but I wouldn't recommend them on past experience.

The best place to go is Wheels In Motion near Aylesbury but they will cost, however you can guarantee it will be done correctly.

Steve at Avantgarde near Bristol is another place to go.

Hi
I finally got my Goodyear tyres. The tyre person could not do the tracking as he said, I need to go to Mercedes specialist as they have the equipment required to do the job correctly.

Please can you recommend anywhere who specialises in tracking for Mercedes... in or around Manchester area, I don’t mind travelling up to 15 miles.
Although the car does rumbles at 70 plus and the steering wheel pulls to one side (this is the reason why I had to replace both front tyres) stress

Sorry I don’t know how to start a new thread and really need to get my car back on the road as it is getting me down. Thank you

To blobcat

Thank you so much, I am going to enquire some places tomorrow and ask if they have that equipment.

So basically, it doesn’t need to be Mercedes specialist as long as they have that equipment

I’m so glad I found this website, it is a life saver I purchased this 6 months ago and not able to enjoy it yet ☹️

There is a list of things...
1 “Winter tyres speed limit 100mph warning “ Which slows the car down

2. “Check Tyres then restart. Run flat indicator

Depends where it's done and what needs doing.
You'll be looking at at least £100 and upt £350 if it needs camber bolts etc.

You can turn the speed limiter for winter tyres on and off in the menu on the dash. Just take your winter tyres off before removing the limiter...
Check the tyre pressures are all good then you can also reset the pressure loss warning also in the dash cluster.

I've never used them for 'tracking', but Nigel Langs in the centre of Bolton ... near the train station ... seem to get good press

This is the thing... I don’t think I have winter tyres and I have just replaced the front with Goodyear efficientgrip performance 2.

If you don’t have winters fitted (just check the sidewall on the rears) then go into the dash cluster and turn the winter tyres option off.

Mobile tyre person probably had no way of lifting the vehicle to right height for tracking and basic equipment with him so likely gave you the answer suited him. Get a second opinion.

Hi kev555
I was meant to go to their depot after they fit my tyres. I didn’t want to risk driving with the doughnut spare And another worn tyre. It didn’t feel safe last time I drove it.
He said they do tracking, but not Mercedes and told me I need a Mercedes specialist. Thanks for all your help, and I done some research...
I think what he meant was I need to find a garage that has the Hunters machine. I have found a few and with good ratings too... are we allowed to mention names of garages on here?

Thank you everyone for being so kind with your answers and comments.
I would be totally stuck without this wonderful site

Also, I forgot to ask... if I don’t have chance to book in with one of the garages I have in mind tomorrow, will my new tyres be ruined, if I drive 30 miles to Chorley and then 30 miles back again. I would drive 60 mph so it doesn’t make the rumbling noise
