I used the local bodyshop for my XJS.
They did all the geometry angles.

129's,124 and201 are lmost imposible without the height gauges and jigs, there are also 10 variants within the range.

I phoned up KwikFit about this last week and they said they couldn't do it. Tried ATS as well and they couldn't either.

I did find an indie that claims to be able to do it, they are right next to an accident repair centre.

I would ask somebody at an accident repair place where they get their cars setup.

After checking all the info on this subject, it makes me wonder what all of the lowered cars drive like, this is a huge subject if you want to do it by the book.

Like pigs normally. I've done a bit of this for my boy who every time he gets a new car he wants bigger this and lowered that. They scrub, crab and tram line, wear tyres into funny shapes and ride like your on solid wheels.

It is all about the look, if it drives then that is classed as a benefit.

National tyres can do wheel alignment, check with your local branch. Most good MOT stations can also carry out this check.

As Malcolm says, all the jigs and data are needed. The bodyshop I used for my XJS was the local accident repair centre which was offered as a choice to get my previous MB bumper fixed along with the two MB dealerships. Naturally I used the dealership for the MB.
(Also I know the chap who owns the bodyshop/accident repair centre.)
My local National Tyres or MOT stations don't have the kit, nor data needed for a full job.
Incidentally, I sent the XJS there as I wore out a set of front tyres in a few hundred miles, even though they were tracked as a matter of course when fitted. (The tracking was out).

I have both auto data and MB WIS with the last range of cars that I looked up,where Auto Data had one set of readings, WIS has a combination of 50 set ups, and this is an exact match to the VIN number on that car. As many of the replies have said, many outlets do not have the jigs as well.

thanks for all your info folks. i will check with my indie that he has all the kit/data needed or its the dealer!!!
tv - i`ve had shocks, bushes, links? checked, tyres re-balanced 3 times but still vibes and "vague" steering feeling. seem to feel every crack in the road too. can it really be unsuitable tyres (as suggested by indie) the highly rated gyear f1 ??????

I doubt it will be the tyres unless they are over inflated by a long way. I've just checked my auto data book and it says .10 degrees which is unusual as most rear wheel drive cars are set at parralel. The vague feeling you have, is there excessive play at the wheel? Because it could be play in the box, I'm sure R129's are fitted with a box and not a rack, if it has then you could try adjusting the sector shaft on the box, by loosening the lock nut and turning in the screw to take up this play. There should be some free play at the wheel but not excessive.

Hope this helps.
Merry christmas to all.
