Hi, I have a citan van 2014. 1 morning I filled screen wash up I did over fill and spilled down the tank. I then started the van and it said check hill start, abs and traction. So now have 3 lights on the dash including the spanner light. and has never gone off. Not sure if it’s related to the overfilling but not much direct under the tank just a thought.

I also plugged a little code reading device into the ecu but it doesn’t show any faults at all!

No mate it’s just next to the front radiator. Directly under it is the alternator

What scanner are you using. Some cheap scanners cant interrogate all MB modules.

How is the car driving.

As above. You need more than a generic scanner to read anything more than a subset of engine faults.

Yes it went to a garage yesterday. Plugged it in and it’s something to do with the right side rear wheel sensor. He thinks maybe the wheel bearing is causing the signal.

He cleared the fault but soon as I drove away it flashed back on.

What is the mileage..?
I think if the wheel bearing had that much play in it, you would notice a noise from the bearing.
Also in the UK, it is normally the rear left (nearside) bearing that goes first because of kerb hitting.

95k mate. No noise at all. Maybe it’s just the sensor that’s faulty on the back right? But once he turned that light off I reversed out the garage then as I pulled away I got like 5 meters and lights all popped back on so I assumed it’s defo something to do with the wheels. There was another fault on the steering sensor but he said that rear wheel sensor will be the 1 that’s sending the signals to the other sensors. I haven’t a clue but that’s what he said

Is the garage MB knowledgable.
Thinking its the wheel bearing is indicative of maybe throwing parts at it till it works.

Merc speed sensors do fail. If it is that get an original. Things need cleaning and check the rings. Oh and dont use aftermatket. It will need doing again in a year!

Hence the need to use a MB indy. A bit more than just replace the sensor if you want it to last.

Thanks for the info mate. There not mb specialist but there really good highly recommend in the area they have booked me in earliest is 2 weeks.

I will tell them to check just sensors 1st you think? What’s odd though is if it was like a wheel sensor it would of come on while I was driving. But it 1st popped on 1 morning when 1st started it up and not while driving.

The codes need reading thats for sure as the computers will give some direction as to the fault, bearings are not readable with a computer (purely mechanical) but can trigger an up/downstream fault, hence the need for a MB indy if preferable as code desciphering is an art.

Funnily enough I got an ESP, BAS, ABS fault this morning on my W220 at start up,

The only way I can see a wheel bearing being the issue is if it is exceptionally loose or if it's the magnetic seal variety.
In the magnetic ones the bearing seal contains a magnet which operates a sensor in the hub. These are very sensitive to distance between seal and sensor or weak magnets (common on third party seals).
Rust on reluctors is worth a look if it's not the magnetic seal type.

Just a update guys. It’s all fixed it was the magnetic seal on the rear hub so he had to replace the disc with the seal.
