id guess that theres a tyre badly worn relative to the rest! this could be enough to spoil traction control lights though!

if you switch it off, the light will stay lit on the dash. it will need to be switched off every time you start the vehicle too!

having thought about it some more, it could be a dirty or faulty wheel sensor or ring as if i remember right the traction control takes its readings from these, the same as the abs system does!

Thans Pete.
been out today and kept her under fifty. no light.
maybee a brake caliper sticking a bit used to happen on my disco when we had been through a lot of water.
anyway will keep an eye on it.
she allows me to turn the t/control off when parked,
having to get used to all these sensors, comes with territory.
Good news
mpg looks great 35MPG
and a lot smoother since popped a tim of desiel injector cleaner in her.
pleased just need to get the initial worries about massive expence stories out of my mind.
best van i ever had !!! SMOOTH AND COMFY

mercs arent as expensive as people think for parts! some things can be a bit steep, but then again they can with any other make you can think of! overall, they are a nice place to be and should be enjoyed whenever possible, even if they are a workhorse!
