I need a sincere advice...



My car was making a rattling noise on 15 rpm on both accelaration and deceleration. I show it to MB mechanic and he told it is tarin valve noise and repairs is £ 800.

Also another dealer told it is tappet noise.



He told me it is not a serious problem and he has seen cars making this noise for 10 years without problem. I am not keen on spending.

If senior members tell me whether he si true that tarin vavle noise is not serous thg.

AS if it is serious i ill sell the car staright away as i donot want to spend £ 800....credit crunch effected...:confused

Change the oil and filter first.

Worth looking for forte hydraulic tappet treatment.

If it only does it from cold dont worry to much.

Hello and welcome, could it be the timing chain, is the rattle more at the front of the engine

1. i have changed oil and filter ... no change in noise.

2. the noise is present at all time whether it is hot or cold engine at 15 rpm.

the location of the noise is at the top of engine as told to me by two mwchanics. so if it is at top then can it be due to damage of camshafts?

Creaking noise

Hi

I have a c180 petrol 2001 model.
Just noticed the other day, after driving for about 30 mins i geta creaking type noise when i accelarate, normally happens when im strating off from traffic lights.

Can anyone advise whatthe problem may be?
