Hi, does anyone know how to find out the spec number of the auto gearbox in my 1999 300td estate, without lying on my back under the thing ? I am having trouble with the transmission-it will not change up to 4 th or 5th gear, I know an auto gearbox guy who needs to know which box it is before I send the car to him, so that he can make sure he's got the relevant information to hand (he has a small workshop and doesn't want the car cluttering up the place if he's not actually working on it.)
I believe these autoboxes are 22/ something but not sure.
can one determine from the chassis number ?
