Compatibility question:-
When I did the first transmission oil change on my w212 / 722.6 with the 5 speed box, I used fluid which matched MB spec 236.10, and its worked out fine.
Now I have acquired some more fluid, for a future change, ( it was wrongly ordered ) but it meets MB spec 236.14, this is for newer MB transmission's, I believe.( but am not certain ) So two questions:

1 . Is it suitable for the 722.6 trans in my Merc ( 2010, E class 2.1 CDI ) IE- backward compatible?
2. Is it miscible with the 236.10 presently in the box?

Thanks to anyone who can clarify this? Info might be usefull for other people too !!.

236.14 (like Fuchs atf4134 is backwards compatible ) but they always say you won't get the full benefit if you mix it . If you are getting most of the old stuff out then that's all you can do .
Opie oils website has a good write up on Fuchs 4134
Both my cars have Fuchs in the gearbox (5g and 7g)

Thanks Wighty. I have 6 ltrs of the 236.14 spec. so more than likely, I will get another 4 /5 ltrs, and do a complete flush as the safest option. I still have some 236.10 leftover from the 1st change in case I need to do a top-up for any reason.
So now I'm happy to hear that the 236.14 can be used either as top-up or complete change.
Thanks again Wighty. Obliged....:D:D:D

Ha Ha Ha..:D:D:D...Its being driven every day Wighty, and I am liking it more and more . Just passed the 17000 Klm mark since I got it back in Jan 2018, and total Klm's on the clock now is at 219700, so it's not gathering any dust. I'm just pre-planning for the future. can't shake off the habit's of a lifetime retired or not !!!. And in a previous Life spare part's were not easy to come by, unless you pre-planned. And if a vehicle was out of action.. or even worse still.. broke down ona trip, the consequence's could have been bad, and very bad at that  I already have 2 engine oil and filter kit's "in Stock ", plus 50% of a trans oil change ( hence the questions) also in stock., So all in all,, service -wise, I'm in a pretty good place.:D:D:D

You have me worried about stocks now . I've got one oil change for the CLK and half for the E class . No filters and very little ATF

Life is all about the journey, where we going and where we came from don't matter.

Ones already been done and the other well, just don't go expecting 72 Virgins.

Hi Wighty, I found the Opie Oils site you mentioned. Very good data on it, and the Fuchs Atf4134 is very reasonably priced. I came across this paragraph:-
"Automatic transmission fluid meeting the MB 236.14 approval for Mercedes automatic transmissions can be found here.
MB 236.14 is the latest specification for Mercedes automatic transmissions (and Ssang Yong transmissions with Mercedes gear boxes). MB 236.14 fluids provide improved shifting performance over MB 236.12 fluids and are backwards compatible with MB 236.12"
Although it does not mention anything about the MB236.10, I guess it would be OK...You have been using it in your 5 speed ( 722.6 Trans) without problem, and that box would have been MB236.10 recommended.
So I will go with that, I think.
Thanks again for your advice.
