Transmission Problem Possibly W209 CLK 2008

A while since posting on this forum. Heard a "clunk" from underneath car, in vicinity of rear wheels when slowing down. When engaging reverse gear loud screeching noise from underside of gearbox area. Everything else appears normal and car drives ok albeit over short distance. Any ideas for a starting point please for further investigation.

Your local garage should be able to tell you with 10 minutes with the car on a ramp ?

Or as mentioned a garage job.

Something has dropped probably the exhaust as said take it to a garage which will take 2 mins to diagnose on a ramp
