hi guys, hope you are well

i am new to this forum and needed some help with an issue i am having with my car.

i have a mercedes A200 Diesel 2006 automatic.
i have been unable to drive it for a while as when i drive it on the message display screen is shows "Transmission visit workshop" and car doesnt drive fast or change gears feels like it is on limp mode, i have put a gearbox ECU as it came up with an error code by my mechanic saying the valves were faulty so ECU needs replacing, i have changed the ECU but still same problem.

any help or support of what this maybe, appreciate it.

thanks

I would imagine that any faults, especially those that drop the car into limp mode, would need clearing with STAR before the car will function correctly (that is assuming that the ECU was indeed at fault. Also, with things like ECU's, I am pretty sure they would need coding to the car before they would work anyway

Did your mechanic clear any outstanding codes?

If the fault codes said valves faulty, then were they investigated? (Valve block in the auto box) ?

I think you will be better off getting an MB independant specialist near you to diagnose it correctly. (With a STAR machine) your mechanic probably only has a general OBD reader which won't really interrogate the system fully.
