Hi All, I have come across this interesting item on ebay while looking for a DVB-T, this one seems to be an exception to the others that are avalible plus it's not expensive!
It seems that not only can you receive Digital Freeview channels but it also has a USB input that will enable you to playback several of the compressed audio and video formats such as MP3, MP4, MPG, DAT, VOB, AVI and WAV, this means that you can do away with your DVD player and or I-Pod, (have on screen display) and replace them with a removable/portable inexpensive Hard Disk Drive (many work on 12V) that can be located in the boot (Trunk) and have quick access to a very large collection of media, depending on the size of the HDD you could store 100's of movies and 1000's of albums, (yes albums not tracks) it comes with 2 high gain antennas as well as a remote control receiver which has a long cable, this would allow the unit to be place in the rear of the vehicle with the IR receiver placed up front then all you have to do is point the remote control at it (IR receiver) and you have got full control of your music and movie selection, when you are fed up of those then remove the HDD connect to your computer then transfer your new media collection. :D:D:D

Looks OK but do not believe it all,,ie High speed scan,,there is no such thing on a digi service, you can only have one EPG at a time,,outside your normal area you would have to do a complete re tune

Twin DVB-T and USB input!

Hi Malcom, I think if it works it would be great, even if the high speed scan feature does not work or even if the digital tuner did not work (which I am sure it will) the fact that it has the USB feature with on screen display via the command unit and the cost is only £80.00 plus postage i think its very good, so good I have ordered one today! I will let you know how I get on once I install it.

Re the antenna why not take one out of your existing TV tuner and fit it to this one

My Twin Digital Tuner /USB in car Media Player Arrives!!!

I will PM him over the weekend as I want to know as well on this

Hi All, sorry I have not been posting recently, I have just been so busy with work, my unit arrived over a week ago but I only opened it today at around 10:30pm, I temporarily connected it to my TV at home using a 12V 1 Amp DC transformer, I then tuned it in, it also covers digital radio channels that are broadcasted along with the digital TV channels, the picture of the TV channels are very good along with the sound.
The next exciting bit is the USB input, this worked very well, I plugged in a USB stick with MP3 music files and I was very surprised with the display info, it displays Artist, Album, Track name, Genre along with the expected track length and count down time, it also displays what track is going to play next and the one after that, the remote control is credit card sized and was very easy to use, having a menu driven display interface using up, down, left, right and OK for selection, I copied over a few movie clips in Video TS and AVI formats and they worked perfectly, the display also has Picture-in-Pictire when in the source selection mode (Digital TV, Movie, Photo & Games)
I don't think I will have time to install it in my car this weekend but when I do post it up, I am very happy with it so far especially seeing what I paid for it, I think it is great value, there are many othe setting for the advanced user, such as various preset surround sound effect settings, EQ setup (Standard, Jazz, Classic, Rock, Pop) Active Antenna power supply (on/off) Display mode (PAL/NTSC) Aspect Ratio 4:3 16:9, varying on screen display superimpose settings and more. My intentions are to purchase a 12V HDD transfer a large collection of my Media to it (music video and pictures) and place the HDD in the boot of my car using velcro to secure it so I can remove it when I have played everything, take it in doors delete media or add more, but I think if I purchase a 500GB hard drive I will have so much space to use I think it will stay in the car for sometime before I will need to take it in doors to change the Media on it, my only concern it the HDD as to how it will cope with the bumps and shock it will receive from the pot holed london roads, I may try a 160GB HHD first and if that suffers HDD failure due to the pot holes in the road I will purchase a solid state Hard Drive, these are musc more expensive but more durable against the shock caused by the rough roads.

Thank you Cliff fo the post,,I have since been thinking about the advantage of having twin tuners, in that you can have one set for your home area, and use the second for when you are away from home, this will also cover 2/3rds of the channels from 22 to 68. So I will get one, for those that can still use the old service you can use the loop through on the antenna

Hello Colin, if you do not have a TV already in the car, then fitting a TV is not easy, mainly due to the antenna network.

You would need the amp-splitter plus an interface that tricks the car into thinking that it has a TV.

With a TV that is already installed it is easy

Is there a link to the seller of this unit as the original ebay link has disappeared?

That's really interesting. I had an MP3 player by CKO feeding one of my auxilliary inputs in the TV Tuner and it was fine. This looks interesting as it has AFS, which should get around the problem of having to reload channels whilst mobile.

Plus it has RCA outputs and its own aerial input. Has anyone tried it yet? Puzzled no one has mentioned the USB input?

It's got a good review here: http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=696&Itemid=54

Are you sure the CKO unit is the one in Brabus' post TV? It doesn't seem to have the USB input. This one does have the USB input and is even cheaper.

I note this one has a 1.96GB limit on record files, which chimes with my CKO unit, which had a USB slot but could not read USB sticks larger than 2GB, so obviating my plans to have a 500GB USB hard drive as per Brabus' original post.

I think it depends on what you want,,I would like the twin tuners,I have a card reader that fits into the optical ring where the menu comes up in the Comand display,,I have not had time to install it yet
