My recently aquired C250TD estate is "Aquamarine metalic" and was in need of a few dabs of touch up. So From the Mercede$ dealer in York I got the appropriate touch up kit for the chassis number. It came as '5341 Aquamarin Met'.When applied to a small spot on the lower rear skirt it blended in fine (even for a metallic) but on the 70mm wide strip that runs completely round the vehicle, level with the top of the rear and front skirt, (waist strip?) it was quite a bit lighter. I then realised that this waist strip is actually quite a bit darker, although due to the angles and curves this not immediately obvious.
My question is this....Is this a normal phenomenon? and if so what is the drill for touching up? I would have thought that had it been normal then there would have been another part to the touch up kit.

I think another call to the dealer is required. This time tell them you want the touch up for the plastic lower panels.

You were right, Normanb ,. I went in this morning to pick up some mud flaps I had on order and tackled them about the matter. I was told that the portion mentioned above was, in fact, finished in a different shade of Aqua. Why the bp*sh!$fth they could not have told me this when asked for touch up in the first place is totally beyond my comprehension. But there again I am not a "parts man".
