Oddly I have never had this problem before but if you have forgotten what type of oil you put in your car and you put in something different what are the risks.

For example if i had 10/40 in and then put 15/40 in. Would this be a serious problem?

Next question is could someone tell me the correct oil for a 1992 300sl (12v 129)?

Thanks!

i mainly use 10/40 in the s-class, but my dad a bit of 5-30 in. but didnt have a problem at all. I would do a engine flush, and replace oil and filter if u are worried.

regarding to the correct oil for ur 1992 300sl, have u not got user manual? go to halford, i am sure they will be more than happy to assist u.

15/40 is just slightly thicker than 10/40 when its cold, so for a top up would be no problem

If you keep to an oil with a spec of 229.1 min then you cannot go wrong,,you could use a part of fully synthetic oil, and change it a little more often
