Had fitted new individual tyre pressure sensor, computer will not reset however and keeps showing 1 malfunction. Tried long journey to see if would reset no good, followed instructions in manual still no joy.
Computer shows correct tyre pressure but each time i start car message say "TYRE PRESSURE CONTROL REACTIVATE"
Need info to sort if possible.
Thanks and Merry Xmas.

Hello and welcome with your very nice dream car. :D

I would suggest that you go back to who ever fitted them as one has failed, I think that my SL told me which one had failed.

You use the press button in the instrument cluster to set them, in the end I got so fed up with mine I had it de activated.

De-activating Tyre Pressure system

Television - you say you had your system deactivated - MB tell me they can not do this - do they mean will not for legal/safety reasons or do they mean can not use their star machine to deactivate and therefore stop the annoying warning. Mine shows correct pressures for each wheel but every time I drive it shows ' Tyre pressure system inoperative - drive to workshop' It's going in to MB on Thurs but me thinks it might be cheaper to just turn it off. I have tried pulling/refitting the fuse. I can remove the warning with the reset dash button but it then shows a malfunction. Car is a 2004 S500 with only 17,300 miles and 2 MB services. Tyres are not originals - changed before I acquired the car. Regards.

Yes I had mine turned off on STAR,, this feature was an extra on all cars and is not a legal requirement.

I hated all of the check tyre pressure messages.

OK you can have the system turned off and if ever you have a fault code check or read out, it will say Fault on tyre pressure monitor, but you ignore that as you know that they are turned off

3 sensors faulty

The car went into MB today - they tell me that 3 of the 4 sensors are faulty - they suggest I change all 4 - about £500. What I find interesting is that all the sensors are showing correct pressure on the dash display - can they be faulty yet work ok? Perhaps they all have intermittent faults? They tell me they can not turn them off using STAR as it will not let them do this. The car is an S500 with only 17000 miles but is a 2004 - I am surprised all 3 failed as MB tell me they are very reliable.? Is this ok for a £68,000 car. Any thoughts. Thanks.

MB are wrong when they say that they cannot de activate them,,Colin from MBS turned mine off.

The reason that you can turn them off is that that they were an extra on almost all the cars, including mine.

When I run a STAR test, it shows that the monitors are faulty with a question mark, and they no longer show in the cluster.

This process is only the reverse of activating something that has been added

the sensors do have a finite lifespan, a very specific time in months. when they get close to, or reach the end of their life they will cause malfunctions and warnings on the dash - despite still reading the correct pressures. this may well be your problem. and as malc says, it can be turned off with star, i have done one myself.
