2014. W205, C Class C220. Diesel Blutec Automatic Saloon.
I have just bought a 2014 C Class C220 Bluetec W205 diesel automatic, the tyres are 225/50/17. all round. But not much life left in them, but I have a very good set of tyres from a 09 plate C class C220 diesel auto W204. which are 225/45/17 for the front, and 225/40/17 for the rears. Can I put the W204 tyres on the W205 ????

No. It'll mess up ABS, cruise and ESP.

You could use either of a pair, the 45 profile or the 40 profile and buy two more tyres to match those so you have 45 or 40 profile tyres all round.
As LK states above, you will mess up some settings.

Volvo`s back in the mid 90`s onwards could reset the ECU if odd tyres changes or wheel sizes were fitted.
I have forgotten exactly how but the car was driven to around 30 or 40 mph and back to 0 mph for so many minutes etc.
It was even in the owners handbook what to do.........it reset the ABS and also rectified the speedo readings for correctness in due course.

I would of thought in this day and age and supposedly such an advanced make of motor that our MB should be able to do the same?........although built in obsolescence does play a part as well as being ripped off at the Dealer.

OR....as i was told by the MB Dealer when i bought some brake fluid in case of a top up in an emergency, i asked him where the brake master cylinder was as i had just bought the motor and he said "we don`t usually like owners playing with our cars" and he would not come out to show me under the bonnet on which side and under which cover the brake cylinder was!

I hasten to add i am no pushover and told his manager what had just happened and he gave him a rollicking and apologised to me i added that they would never ever see me again and they haven`t.

In fairness, if you need to ask where the reservoir is, you shouldn't be playing under the bonnet.

Surely the rear tyres should be 245/40x17?
I assume you have staggered wheels?

?

No, the W205 runs larger tyres and narrower wheels, if it has the same size tyre all round then it will have the same width wheel all round so the 245 will not fit anyway.

Sell the W204 tyres and buy some

If it has the same tyre width all round, surely front & back would be 225/45x17.
Why has it got 225/45 on the front & 225/40 on the rear?
Something is not right.

That's not what his first post says.

Russ

I took the 225/40 as a typo for 245/40 which is correct for the rear

Either way they won't fit as they are too small
