Hi to all...
I have a 2013 cls estate with 19 inch wheels, with 255 35 and 285 30, front and rear, respectively.
I was wondering if i could fit 255 40 19 front and 285 35 19 rears in the interest of a slightly better ride quality. I live in rural England, where there is no money to maintain roads properly.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated, as ever.

Hard to know for sure but you would probably get away with that. You should discuss it with your insurance though as they may be less than happy.

Our SL has the same as you want to do and it works fine.

If you are looking at improving comfort it's probably better to fit 18in wheels, 19in look very nice aesthetically but are not really practical on our ‘third world’ roads unless you have air suspension.

I would second the 18" wheels , a tyre depth of 30mm on our roads is shockingly small .

Sorry buddy , more like 42.75mm :D, which is still shockingly small for our roads

99.75mm or just under 4" in old money (or about the width of your hand), is the sidewall height on a 285/35 tyre, shirley

I have considered 18 inch wheels. I have no idea about the correct size, ET etc, but it is in the back of my mind.

Have a look in the fuel filler. The different size options will most likely be listed. You can go from there

You can always advertise your 19" alloys on the forum once you have your new wheels fitted.
That's an idea....
Thanks.
