I currently have 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear tyres fitted as per MB recommended.
The issue I have is with the front where the rim protrudes and is damaged when going through potholes.
I've tried various brands from goodyear/mich/uniroyal on the front but none offer any more rim protection.
Looking at getting the wheels refurbished again now and wondered if I would be ok going wider and higher - 255/40/19 and 285/35/19 keeping relative sizing the same or
255/35/19 and 285/30/19 - with fewer tyre choices for the 285's, or even 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 although not sure if the front will protect the rim?

I saw another member going with a higher profile all round with no issues keeping the width the same.

My insurance company is ok with the changes

Thanks

255/40/19 and 285/35/19 will have a much bigger diameter than your current 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. Even if the wheels fit your wheel arches, it will completely confuse all your safety and control systems (speedo, traction control, ABS, cruise control, etc).

The second figure is a % of the first to give the sidewall height - so 255/40 gives a side wall of 102mm compared to 245/35 for 85,75mm
