hi everyone, i have just covered 21,000 miles and my tyres are getting ready for changing. the front tyres being the worst situation as they wear on the outer edges on the mercs. my steering geometry has had the full four wheel alignment done by computer prior to the tyres being fitted, so the wear is based on just mixed driving, A-roads, M/way and local etc.
i have 18 inch wheels and 235/45/18 kumho tyres fitted, circa £120 each.these are highly rated on the german test sites.

what sort of mileage are you experiencing. ? herbiemercman.

When you get to the 285 range the life is very short, 10k to 14k miles

Michelin Primacy 215 55 R16, REGULARLY GET 50,000 MILES FROM EACH TYRE. Not an inexpensive, but is a quality tyre that you can believe in.

Happy Motoring,

Regards
John

Although mines a 211, I've done 23k miles on my summers ( Avon and Goodyear) the avons are on 3mm and the Goodyear 5mm, the avons did 12k before I fitted them to the front, the good years seem longer lasting.

Wear seems flat across the tyres, but it's mostly motorway or a roads.

thankyou everyone for all your comments, seems like if you want the best grip and the softer ride quality, then you pay for the lower wear mileage, also as one of the merc indes said, mercs are heavy on tyres, if i can get to the 20,000 mark i am happy now, just wanted to know what other merc owners experience was. herbiemercman.

Michelins will give you grip, comfort and are long wearing. But cost more. ;)
