I'm just hunting for any :idea:wisdom:idea: on new tyre selection.
Wifey's getting towards the 40k mark and as I swapped the front and back tyres a while back, I'm going to need 4 new ones in the next 6 months. Currently on the OEM ones (EcoConti??) and as the spare's a Dunlop SP10, I guess I'll just make them all the same.

As in everything else .You only get what you pay for.Have a look about the prices vary on where you buy.Don't go to a mb dealer they will charge over the odds.

If you're in West London a trip down the M4 to Bracknell may pay off....Bracknell Tyre and Battery on 01344 411323.

I have always found them to be so much cheaper than anywhere else.

Hi guys,
some experience when I had a Rover 800 Turbo Sport !

Dunlop SP ..... very grippy but lasted less than 10k miles !
Michelins........Good in the dry but bl**dy awful in the wet, lasted 18k !
Goodyear Eagle Asymetric tread......great tyres lasted more than 15k and I had 2 full sets before the car went back !

Well, as I live in Woking (someone has to) I'll take a trip up the A322

Thanks!

It depends on what you want. Do you want ultimate performance in wet and dry and you don't mind how quickly they wear out or do you want more of a compromise. Also take into account whether you need to drive in snow which will rule out some of the more extreme tyres. I actually don't agree that you get what you pay for. The big brands tend to charge more and don't seem to come out any better in the tyre tests. You could look at Vredestein Sportracs which always seem to do well and are reasonably cheap and hard wearing (I've got Ultracs which are excellent), or Uniroyal RainSports which are also very good. Goodyear F1s are also OK. I wouldn't touch Continentals with a barge pole and Michelins are generally very expensive for what they are. Have a look on mytres for the various ratings - wear, snow etc. But it's complicated and depends on what you want and where you live.
