Does anyone think the seats in Mercedes cars have become more uncomfortable over the years? This is my first C class after 3 E Class Estates (over last 15 years) and the front seats are so uncomfortable. We find it impossible to get comfortable on a long journey. My wife has told me to sell the car before the next long journey, it is that bad!

Hello and welcome

I’d say “no” in my experience, once you get them adjusted correctly they’re good for many many hours.

I don't get to do many long journeys these days. But las week I went from Portsmouth To Dunfirmline non-stop and arrived as fresh as a daisy - so I'm very happy with the seating :)

In my experience I’ve found my 212 seats harder than the 211’s, but as has been said once you get them adjusted correctly it isn’t an issue, although it took me lots of trips to get it just right

I’m on my second ‘E’ class, the seats are very firm and initially seem as if they will be uncomfortable but I have found them to be fine.

I have done several trips in France and thoroughly enjoyed the car.

The key though is to adjust them correctly and the link given is very helpful, there is also a video on YouTube by I believe Recaro (I could be wrong on the maker) which is very helpful.

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
Ive had to buy a lumbar cushion due to back pain. The seats are like deck chairs compared with the e class and cls.

Mercedes seats are as good as a sofa for driving comfort, no matter where I go I feel super fresh when I get out the car. But an c class is not an e class and an e class is not an s class. if you get my drift!

All 'seats in Mercedes cars' or just the seats in a 2017 C220 D?

My 202s I had both had very firm (hard) cloth seats that could be uncomfortable on a long journey.
The 210 is very comfortable (MrsLK says it's the most comfortable of the lot but I disagree).
The 230 is also very comfortable but for me the winner in our fleet is the 129.

All the MBs are much more comfortable than her BMW Cooper S.

I had a 2017 e220d for a month. Covered about 1100miles and found it very uncomfortable compared to the w211 or my old CLS. Lovely car in every other aspect especially the 9 speed box. My friend has the same car but the estate model and covered about 40k. Mentioned my experience with the seats and he said he put a cushion in his car because he found it to be so much worse than his previous E coupe.

I had the same E220d (saloon) covered nearly 48K in 18 months and found the seats excellent

Seats are a funny thing. You can get two people to try the same seat and it could be perfect for one and the worst they have tried for the other.

it it totally down to the individual. Seats in W219 were very high on my comfort list. Swapped to a W212 and chopped it in within a year as I could not get comfortable in the seats.

In a BMW 530d GT currently and yet again the seats are ideal for me.

I think the answer depends on the individual person, age, and the actual car. I have heated seats in my 2017 GLE and I think that they are more uncomfortable
on long trips because my guess is that there is less padding to allow for the heating to work...agree? What I'm trying to do is find something that will correct the problem. If you look at most automobile seat cushions on Amazon, all get a 3%-5% 1 rating = does not help. Would love to find one with a a 98% 5 rating!!!

That’s BS on the seat heating, you need to get the seats adjusted correctly. That is all.

Does anybody else find this suspicious?
Pjgw creates this thread about uncomfortable seats as his first and only post after registering on 1st October 2019, then never returns to the forum.
gepano registers today then only 11 minutes later likes the original and posts in support of it.
Will gepano be seen or heard from again, and could they both be the same person...who knows? :p

I have never found Mercedes seats uncomfortable, & I have done a couple of 600 mile trips in a day.
The most comfortable seats I have ever had were in my 1976 Renault 16TX.
