Sorry to hear this OP it does take the shine off a vehicle. Last encounter with a seat that just didn’t Support me properly was when my son and I road tested a new 5 series m sport saloon last year, everything was fine for the first half hour but by the time we had been travelling in the car for an hour we were both in agony. In all fairness the BMW dealer did allow us to take the car for a morning which was just as well but unfortunately that one fact lost them the sale which was a shame because the vehicle in all other respects was very good, in contrast the W213 E class seats are excellent. As I recall it was something to do with the seat base bolsters squashing my thighs and nothing could be adjusted to make the seat any better
I had a 520 for 2 years and couldn’t get on with the seats, also a VW CC, bolsters presses against my legs too much

Yes couldn’t understand how BMW had made this error, both of use are not in the portly bracket, perhaps the seats had to be slightly narrower for some reason (NCAP?) but a big foopar nonetheless. Ironically my 14 reg 4 series M Sport seats are fine

Never had a problem with any MB seats. But bought a VW Variant second hand in 1972, the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in, crippled my back. I had to sell the car in the end. Had two Beatles before no problems at all.
Still the most comfortable seats I have had were two Renault 16's a TS & a TX. Lived in Germany at the time 700 miles to get home.

Volvo normally get good remarks for their seats.

French cars often had/have a good ride.

Mercedes are mixed.

I went through many sofas for home and I think that's where a lot of peoples problems start their car seats just exacerbate the problem.
The base of the problem though is if your overweight, unfit and live a sedentary lifestyle which has been me for a few months due to various reason your back starts to hurt.

I need to start with me before my car.

Friend of mine had a Renault 5 in the late 70s which I thought cheap and cheerful what a surprise when I went out in it as a passenger the seats would have graced a RR. Apparently the roads were so bad in France at that time manufacturers spent a lot of money on suspension and seats perhaps that’s what we should be doing over here now that our roads aren’t fit for purpose

I think Volvo is the only manufacturer building cars for the roads we have rather than the roads they have in the adverts...

I shudder quite literally when I go out in these huge alloyed cars with rubber band tyres shuddering from one rut to another.

There only good for standing still.

it must be really bad down your way then pal , I run 3 cars with 19" rims or bigger and yes there are the odd rough areas to take care around but in general I don't have any real problems
