After @MrGundam started a panic by posting pics of his failed underside brake lines because of debris build up I’ve been waiting for a decent day to have a look under there on the CLK .
I combined the underside panel removal with a quick squirt of Dinitrol into the CLK’s rear subframe holes , a two for one job as the car was on wheel ramps .
I removed the long near side panel and was pleasantly surprised by there mot being a huge amount of dirt under there . A quick degrease and scrub of the panel cleaned it up nicely .
The brake lines looked in good order , but I removed their rubber holders , sprayed everything with APC , scrubbed and washed with a microfibre mitt before rinsing . After letting everything dry i sprayed them with ACF50.

Had a crack at the E class brake lines today . Two under panels to remove , things were reasonably dirt free , even more so than the CLK .
I didn’t bother with undoing the body clips because it was cold and windy , I just applied extra ACF50 to make up for my laziness .
There was a fiddly section of brake pipe at the front that went right up close to the edge metal by the sill, I reckon if dirt were to get into the undertray this is where it might be prone to rust ?

When the brake pipes rusted and leaked on my previous W211, it was right at the wheel end near the flexible pipe. I assume it was caused by it getting regular road spray. We just replaced that section on both sides.

I give those bits of pipe a spray up every 6 months when I do the winter/summer wheel changeover dance :)

Common issue on all w211 that little bend entering the flexi .
