T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Have a 2001 T210. Heard a scraping noise and subsequently removed the middle undertray from underneath the car.

On inspection the corner has broken off around the hole where it bolts on. It looks like plastic but looking at the broken area it appears t have fibre strands.

My question is can I glass fibre a new area, about a 2" square corner and then when bolting back use large diamete washers, or is this gonna fall apart a mile down the road ??????????????????????

****** speed bumps, and I drive like a vicar over them, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Hi,
A new undertray is only just over £25, I believe the w202 undertray is the same as a
w210.
I do have a brand new one which I Bought and is surplus to requirements I,ll post a pic and the pt no. if your interested.
I don,t think patching with fibre glass would last very long but you could try it.

I think fibreglass would work fine so long as you could get the tray clean enough for it to adhere to it. If you drill a few holes in the tray so the resin can run through you should be able to get it to hold well

But for £25 you might as well buy a new one...

Hi,
I hope it is the same as yours, It was originally bought for my C43 W202 and is the same as my C230K.
It was just under £25 before the V.A.T.

Under crackers!

Hmmm hit something last week...bit of metal or loose cat's eye... ripped back plastic under tray that runs along the side of my clk protecting the sill....bought a new plastic bit from merc....the fixings were clever...two pieces of plastic that clip together and just push fit (60p each)...the tray under £20.
The plastic bit above seems to be the engine sheild. Most of the merc fixings seem to held in stock and cheap..as was for my rear wheel arch...I had a bit of plastic missing too but choose to change it for peace of mind..didn't want anything flapping arround at 150!

Be nice to see a picture of your damage.

Bigasatonuk - sory for delay, mine's deffo different but many thx all the same. Am trying the glass fibre method as I have the kits sitting in the garage which I use on my jetski, so theres no cost in having a go.

Have started the GF repair but will posts pic's once the next layer has hardened. In short, the corner around where one of the four fixings attached had cracked and completely removed itself.

I also spotted two hairline cracks on the edges where it sags by gravity and reinforced these too for good measure. If it works, will let you know. If it don't will still let ya know :p

Not had one on mine for about 40K.

Can't say I notice the difference, save that I can see how much it's rusting - which seems to be fairly little now, as it can all dry out under there.

Tray on my wifes 203 was definitely grp, so provided it was not wrecked like hers (there must be some big bits still lyin at the side of the A1) you should be able to repair. You will need to abrade the existing surface to give a good key to ensure a better bond, ensure that the dust is removed and apply system, taking the new grp well back onto a sound area to spread out the load.
