I've the Unwin system, similar enough to the link,

Simple enough in theory. But my 2014 Viano has rubber strips across the top of the seat rails.
It improves the look but interferes with the Unwin lock in clamps, in that the rubber needs to be clear of the top of the rail so the clamp can sit, slide a little and be locked in.
While I have managed to get the clamps in and locked it is a lot of faff, and for wheelchair in / out the rear lock downs need to be out while the chair is rolled in / out. Trying to site them while mum waits would take a fair while.

I'm reluctant to cut away the rubber strip in parts.
Has anyone experienced these and can suggest an easy method that I'm not seeing?

Not quite sure I understand the problem? Have you got a pic?

a. is the rubber peeled back. The anchors slot into the groove and holes.
It then pushes forward so the yellow pin can drop[ and lock the anchor in place.

b. Left under rubber, right not.
c. Is close but now the rubber prevents the anchor sliding and for the yellow pin to drop.

Earlier models didn't have the aesthetic rubber, so no issue.

It looks as if the rubber strip / anchor can function independently. Could you try a something that stops the rubber "clinging" to the anchor - allows the anchor to move - try a little WD40 to see if it works - if it does, then go for something that will last

The rubber strip was missing/damaged in parts when I bought my Viano so I pulled the lot out. As I'm not used to it being there I never think there's anything missing.

The rubber strip can be prised out, maybe it would go back easily after a while??

Anyway with some rubber prised out, and a closer look at the clamp part of the Unwin / seat rails I see while it would go in it wouldn't slide anyway.
So I'm in the process of re engineering so they will sit and slide and lock even with the rubber in place.

Why is nowt straight forward?
