Morning all. Trapped by the marathon so working on the car again. Really enjoying tinkerin with the car but:

Cars starts and I can keep the revs up with with the acc. pedel depressed.
As soon as I like of the revs drop to zero and it cuts out.

The 190e has:

New plugs,
New dizzy,
New fuel relay,
New OVP relay,
New exhaust and cat.

Will all the above parts I seem to be narrowing the issue!

Next on my list is the idle control valve. I am working sans Haynes manual but I believe this is on the front right of the engine with 2 electric wires/connectors and connected to the dizzy?

Any other ideas of things to try before I send it to the garage tomorrow?

Update No. 2.

Removed the idle control valve today and soaked it for 3 hours in carb cleaner.

Refitted and all is well. Purrs like a kitten.

Agreed, and could not have done it without the help and advice on here.

Off to Reims next weekend. Here's hoping it holds up!

Idle Control Valve

Hi,

I am guessing your car is not the 2.0 model, or is it?

I am not sure where the idle control valve is on a 2.0 model, the Haynes manual not being very helpful to me (looking at the index).

I've found the cold start valve though (and promptly lost one of the screws in the bowels of the engine bay, really need to find it).

My 2.0 190E (1991) has exactly the same issues as you describe you see. And if an idle control valve will fix it, well, I want to try it! :)

Thanks for any help,

Sid

PS. I've changed distributor + leads + rotor arm + spark plugs, so far.

No update? Is anyone else able to tell me where exactly the idle control valve should be on the 190E 2.0 model..?

Thanks!

Sid
