I will use the straight ones, they are the only ones ever fitted to my car

I do mostly OEM modifications but this one just seems so original that I am finding myself giving in. Could your calling be the voice of Moses calling out from the wilderness 'Mcobinad, Mcobinad, thou shall not commit to this egregious modification'. Yes, b1g1an, I hear thy voice'. :)

LOL, that is sort of where I was coming from but didn't mean to imply I was holier than though.

I've been looking at fitting DRLs to mine for ages, having had them on previous cars and also welded on headlights on my Volvos I'm convinced they've saved my neck from idiots pulling out on me a few times, but am stuck with finding something properly OEM looking.

Not quite there yet so settled for whatever they call the lights on all the time setting in the instrument cluster for now but am more than interested if you find the mythical beast that ticks all the boxes.

Or you could do a front end conversion. The more recent W216 bumper comes with integrated straight DRLs. Hein, Malcolm!

Do you think our oval fogs look better than the DRLs suggested above? The only DRLs I have managed to find for the W219 since I have been searching are these ones that I suggested above. I think they fit like OEM as opposed to anything I have seen in ages out there. Aftermarket bumper conversion exposes one to viable DRL alternatives like the one in this video.

What do you think of these photos?

They look too short to me, it needs the longer version

Ah...missed the obvious here...mine's an AMG so doesn't have the oval lights that fill the vent, it has the smaller round ones and gap to the inside which is where I invisaged a round DRL would sit. However, didn't think your CLS had the AMG bodykit so the ones in your original post won't fit your car anyway :)

Found this that someone else had done which doesn't work in my mind...

but a quick bit of photoshop and I think it might, the kick in the lights following the line of the vent...

Don't know whether this is OK with the legal reqs though.

Looking at your original posted ones I think the same may be true, other way up and they'd possibly look alright. It is the other way up to how MB do it obviously but if it fits with the flow it shouldn't stand out as odd.

What do you reckon?

Love this bumper and the DRLs that go with it, doesn't smack of aftermarket and makes it look much newer...

I bought a W219 AMG bumper that is still sitting in my garage over 5 months now. I am waiting for the right DRL to start the conversion.

I think the last one looks alright but that bumper looks like an aftermarket product to me. Most of them are made of fibre glass and I wouldn't be taking that route. Alternatively, you can keep your oval fogs and supplement the look with LED strips like the one in the link provided below. Personally, not my taste but...

LOL, Malcolm and DISTRONIC. I bet you would never buy an MB without one!

I am getting itchy feeling again on cars, but nothing out there that takes my fancy and yes, distronic is a must, I do not have pots of money but more than I can use and that just seems so stupid at my time in life, my kids will get through it all in minutes. Just nothing tickles my fancy, another SL.

Barely 1 year you purchased the CL. Wow, human needs are insatiable. Malcolm, you are not alone. Imperfection is intrinsic to humans, so I feel your burning desire. It takes nothing but 2 months to get use to a new car and the next moment, we are up again searching for another one to fill the vacuum.
