Upgrading an SLK`s sound system

Being a recent new owner of an SLK320 which I might add I am very pleased with. :lol: One thing gives me cause for concern, the stereo. It is coming out. Instead I will install a Sony mp3 player 8) and I want to upgrade the speakers. (from the standard 4 speaker system)

Have anybody carried out a speaker upgrade on the SLK?

If so how did you go about it?

Where did you install if any new speakers?

Was it an easy task?

What is your honest opinion of the upgrade?

Mine's got the Bose option with an Audio 10 CD. It is a little disappointing and not even up to the standard of the stereo in my old MR2. But I think the main problem is that 4 speakers are not enough. You need 6 and you need 2 at the back of the car but there simply isn't room on the SLK. With Bose you get 2 sub-woofers behind the seats but they don't really do much. Have a look on benzworld.org under the R170 forum or the audio forum. There are plenty of suggestions.

Thanks Tony, I will take a look at the site. Must get a decent sound for the boring long journeys.
