I have replied to delb0y's PM, never heard of one, can only guess it may be the 1st cat, or the particle filter (though don't think there will be one on his car).

Not too sure here, rang one main dealer who never heard of this flame catcher. Rang the place I took the car into and they have gave me the following info

Exhaust flame catcher is attached to the turbo
Part no 2034904136

CAT part no 2034900919

Could be that or NO 5

It seems like a puzzle

I would have thought all these parts would have came as the complete exhaust system

No 5 looks like the pre cat, MB replaced mine when the turbo went.
No 50 looks like the cat.
Never heard of a flame catcher, unless it is a slang name?

Russ

it has to be a slang term cos no one i spoke to all day had heard of it

out of interest at what mileage did your turbo need replacing?

both those part numbers are listed as "catalyst"

Has anyone got the merc software which shows these two parts with a diagram with the part number?

I get the feeling both are the CATS

both those part numbers are listed as "catalyst"

I get the feeling both are CATS but the diagram is showing 2034900919 as a EXHAUST PIPE when the dealer told me it was a CAT

so 2034904136 must be NO 5 as thats the part that attaches to the turbo aka flame catcher .. if this is a CAT also then i can most likely buy it from GFS or eurocarparts
