Hi all,
first post and it has a note of desperation I'm afraid!

Long story short we have a 2009 Viano destined to become a camper.
It turns out that the roof that is due to go on it was only made from 2014 onward.
Apparently the part numbers for the pre and post 2014 Viano roof are different, which raises the ugly possibility that there will be a hidden structural difference that prevents the correct fitting of this pop up roof.
I've photographed and measured our 2009 Viano roof and the roof of a 2019 van and find no significant difference whatsoever.
I won't post those photos as they are not any help with this next step.
The outer shell of the pop top would most likely fit fine.
It's the internal match that is in question.
It would be idiotic to cut into our van in hope, only to find it won't work, so I'm trying various channels to find out exactly what differences there are between the two part numbers.
As an "ex classic VW owner" I know that these part numbers are to be ignored at your peril!
Hoping someone can help move this along anyway.
Cheers.

2014 639 Viano- 651, 5sp Auto. 2009 S211- 646, 5sp Auto.
I can't help with a definitive answer but,
if you are able to look at 2 basic Vito vans of the specific years, both being compact, long or ex long as yours is,
the unlined van with careful examination may well reveal a difference, or not.

Over the front 2 seats will be lined though.

The lights to the 2009 / 2014 are different as is the wiring to them, but beyond that I'm struggling to understand why anything else would need to be. But better be as sure as you can be obviously.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, the next step is to remove the two lining sections on ours in prep for the fitter looking at it, but it's a bit of an ask to take the lining from someone else's van ... The fitters are supplying the roof at cost, which is a key part of the "equation" for us, and are to be trusted over others with this job given their reputation, but they're in Barnsley and we're in Gloucestershire, so you can appreciate my trying to drill down into the facts of this before making that trip!
I've emailed the MB archive, and am waiting for the fitter's MB contact details, so I can try that channel as well.
Like you, I would be amazed to find any internal differences given the exact match externally, but a different part number is a different part number!
Thanks again.
Appreciate it :)

Sorry, can't help but Welcome:)
Thank you ... Here's hoping I get to post some more positive stuff around the conversion before too long!
This is the van btw ... and my freehand doctored photo to see whether a black roof (I get to choose the colour) will "go" .... There's a black shell seal that will look iffy if there's the slightest "wiggle" in it so I'm playing with this as a distraction from having to wait for the definitive answer on fitting!

There were no vianos after 2014 (apart from a few late registered). It was replaced 2015- with the v class. I used to have a long viano 2010 and now own an extra long v class and space wise internally they are the same. I think there's quite a few differences between viano and v class so initially I think it's a no go. I'm only guessing though and got no facts to back it up

Ah well to clarify, the SCA roof definitely fits Vitos 2014 onwards.
There has been no mention of the "V class" so far!
Our "Long" 2009 Viano has exactly the same external roof as a 2009 Vito would have, and appears to be the same as a local 2019 Vito, which may or may not have a rear section lining ......
