Vacum pump pipes

Hi these are the vacuum pump tubes for my 1995 W202 C200, I don’t know what areas of the vacuum system the are assigned to or what they do but one is broken, the green one and I think one is missing possibly a black one. does anyone know! will this effect the running or performance of the car.

i doubt you have any missing, are there open holes other than the broken grey connector? the grey pipe is vac feed from manifold, purple is headlight height adjuster, red is climate control flaps (if i remember correctly), green could be folding rear headrests - not sure. if you blank off the open end on the broken grey connector you should find this will help the headlights...

I thought that the light range reg came from the engine direct on all the cars

not brighter, just higher!

blutac sounds good for a temporary cure.

Are you head lamps raising up and down with the roller wheel in the dash, if they are then this is nothing to do with that part of the vacuum system, and no it cannot make them brighter.

The head lamps are run from the engine so that in the event of a vacuum failure you can still drive the car

i am not so sure about that malc, maybe on some models, but not this one. the link you gave clearly shows the vacuum distributor block pictured in post #1, and the purple pipe also pictured IS for the headlights.

We were discussing this in another thread and I don’t know much about them, mine is much the same year as Daves, what would be the assignment of the 2 Black ones?

The don’t mention colour at all in Malcolm’s link.

not sure about the black ones either! there were various vacuum controlled systems as detailed above. also seat jacket tube adjustment, gearbox program (on 722.4/5 models which a '95 will be) and others i cannot remember! i just follow the pipes

I use the pegs that golfers put there golf balls on before hitting the ball, just the right size for blanking vacuum pipes off, Hope this helps

Dave, below is an example, close up of how the Grey connector fits in the hole, looks like yours is broken and that’s why the Green is disconnected.
Not sure why I have 2 black tubes and you don’t , maybe that’s normal for your particular car.

Hi,
Just to confirm what Alexander says that the the headlight levelling on a 202 is driven from the vacuum pump in the boot, though not sure what the purple pipe on that manifold is, when i removed my C43's vacuum levelling system it had a direct feed from the boot mounted pump to the vacuum dial, out of the other side of the vacuum dial to just behind the passenger side headlight where there was a T joint, splitting it into an individual feed for both headlights vacuum unit. If you open the bonnet and look in front of the radiator you can see the purple headlight vacuum pipe running to the drivers side headlight.
