after my head gasket went last weekend i find myself not being able to afford the repair. (£1000+)

ive been offered £500 for it as it stands.

91 500se 131k, good condition, everything works, nothing needs replacing. (except head gasket and refill cooling system!)

should i take the £500 or hold out for more??? Its worth nothing to me sat in my drive!

Fair comment.The problem is though,if OP can't afford £1k for the work,what does he move on to? £500+ less than £1k will get a very unsatisfactory old Eurobox that will hold many financial surprises and a lot of disappointments after his present car.Difficult.

Your car is only worth what someone else will pay for it,if you feel the car is worth more to you then hold on to it but tbh I can't see anyone giving you more than £500 for it.
