hi everyone, i can't get away from mercs. every wednesday my friends and i go trekking out in the sticks, last wednesday we were comming down and walking along a river bank, in the distance we could see an old cottage, i commented to my friends what i nice place to live.

as we drew closer there was an oldish guy sweeping his drive way, he had an old merc with the rear window smashed. we were all shocked, it was all in the wrong place, miles from anywhere, lovely river, woodland etc.

i asked the old guy what had happened, he said the drugged up drunken bas----ds have vandalised my car. he then invited us to see the other side of his cottage, he had the two downstairs windows covered in mesh and one of the windows was broken. he had placed a 6x4 ft .sheet of chipboard against his wall, on it he had written in large letters "SCUM WILL BE SHOT".

i said who are the perpatrators, and where do they come from?, are the police involved?

he replied that the perpetrators come down the narrow lanes and across the tracks, then walk to a small clearing in the wood, about half a mile from his cottage, he said they are teenagers, they arrive about eight oclock start lighting fires and then start throwing sones, shouting abuse etc. about eleven oclock.

the police had been called many times but due to the location and lack of evidence they had not been able to do anything at all so far.

i told him his notice was understandable, but very provocative, why could he not visit their camp and reason with them, sort of end the war ? he said he was too afraid, again understandable.

i said that the best tool we have on our nursing home sites is the CCTV, he said the police have that in hand, but he has no mains power just a generator. i explained how easy it was to overcome that problem , with two large batteries.

i asked him how long had he had his merc, a cream coloured 124, he said a long, long time, it was thick with algie, but no rust. i felt sorry for him and it was quite a shock to see what we did in the middle of nowhere. herbiemercman.
