Hi all,
been a while since I was on here when I used to have the much loved 190E. Sadly some toerag totalled it for me and it went to the big car lot in the sky!
Back now with a Vaneo ( ok ok - I know, its not really a MB etc etc but I have got it and yes, its not a patch on the 190! ). Its a high miler ( 135K) 1.7 diesel and due for a service, so have a few questions if I may-
1. When is it recommended the timing chain is renewed on these?
2. Having problems with the box occasionally sticking in 4th and then showing F on display, then refuses to come back down the gears. Turn it off then on again and it goes away - for a while anyway. Thought I would try changing the filter and oil ( it worked wonders for the 190 ) alas, now stumped. Got a horrible feeling it is one of those horrid sealed for life jobs as cant find sump, drain, or dipstick - any advice on this please?
thanks and its great to be back!
cheers all
