Hi, I have a 1998 Vario 614D. The exhaust brake no longer works. Following main dealer inspection, the verdict is that it's the ECU playing up (replacement cost c.£2000). Everything else in engine management etc is working fine. The workshop manager suggested that I might find a specialist who could repair it, as we're not talking about a modern computer here, but a relatively unsophisticated bit of circuitry that is routinely tweaked by tuning experts. He had no direct contact to give, hence this post.
More detail - The exhaust brake works if a feed is connected directly to it, but this produces an ECU warning light on the dash, probably not least because in normal operation the fuel should be cut off when the brake is applied.
Any ideas on this problem, specialist contacts, or pointers to more appropriate forums would be very welcome.
