- Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
The Spring budget was yesterday and as usual road tax has risen, but significantly more this time compared with previous years.
Regarding vehicles first registered from April 2017 onwards the annual standard rate will increase from £165 to £180 on April 1st.
The over £40k greed tax (lets be honest about it thats exactly what it is) will increase from £355 to a whopping £390!
What really gets me about this greed tax (apart from it being simply morally wrong) is that since its introduction in April 2017 and the year on year price rises, the threshold where it takes effect has remained static at £40k.
A person works hard for their money and rewards themself with a nice car, but our government effectively punishes them for doing so. Of course the first owner realises and grudgingly accepts this, but who it really hurts is subsequent owners because this tax still applies up until the vehicle is 6 years old.
If I still had my CLA the annual VED would rise £50 to £570.
