Much as I enjoy a bit of gordon bashing - (god knows he deserves far more than he gets the incompetent *%!&^*) but I was under the impression that cooking oil prices had gone up due to supply issues rather than tax. US Biofuel demand, china etc are soaking up all the stocks.

I enjoy a lot of Gordon bashing.

Who knows for definate what sort of duty to government levies (if any more than 17.5%) on cooking oils etc, today and in the past?

Where, where, where????? I can't find anything for less than a pound in Tesco's. I'm back to using my local Lidl @ 78p a litre. Unfortunately in litre bottles.
I had been clearing out my local Sainsbury's for the last few weeks, 74p and 3 litre bottles but they've upped theirs to 98p now! Veg oil the same price as Sunflower oil. I'm off to sign up with someone like Makro next week.

I was led to believe that a bad harvest as well as an increase in demand was to blame (as well as probably a greedy government lol)
