Hi everyone
Newbie here looking forward to chatting about things Mercedes.
so I have recently bought a 2010 viano and have tried to check my engine fluid levels today and the bonnet catch is seized.
I have tied everything to open it. Took the cable off at the end inside the car so I could pull it with pliers as the leaver was going to snap.
I had help to pull this as I pulled and banged on the bonnet to get something to move. Nothing
Removed the grille thinking I could get in to the lever that the cable attaches to and nothing I can’t see it.
so am thinking I need to cut a hole in the bonnet around where the catch is so I can get access to the latch and in jam it that way leaving me to replace the bonnet
My questions are...
1. Is there any other way to get access to the catch?......
2.is the bonnet from a Vito that year the same?....

Thanks everyone

Have you tried pushing down on the front centre of the bonnet while another pulls the inside lever?

It may have been adjusted too far.

If rusty the under bonnet catch might benefit from a dosing of WD40.

Tried that with no joy
I have managed to get the three torx screws at the top of the grille off and got the grille out which let me get a 10mm spanner up to the two bolts holding the catch on the bonnet. Removed them so I could lift the bonnet up.
found the cable had jumped off so the pull was doing nothing
Made sure the actual latch was free and re-attached the cable checked all the operation before fitting the grille back on.
so it’s all working ok thank god as I was tempted to take the angle grinder to the bonnet and buy a replacement.
so no need you can get the bonnet open with removing the two bolts on the bonnet
