Quite randomly, I can be driving along and the right hand electric sliding door just unlocks itself and pops open a little. Thankfully it doesn't slide all the way back!
Initially, I thought it was when I drove over a bump but that's not the case, it happens on the flat as well.
It has to be opened using the dash button or the inside door button, then closed again using those buttons. It can't be opened with the handle, and can't be closed until it's been opened.
The dash tells me it's open.

Clearly, it's a tad distracting, if not downright dangerous. Anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Having a similar problem, Thankfully not whilst in motion!!!
Did you get it sorted, or did it just "heal" like mine does for a few weeks?
Anything to share on the subject?

Regards

I replaced the contact plates on the door pillar. It happened again twice soon after that, but since then (3 or 4 months) it hasn't happened.
However - now, the other side door opens itself almost every time I shut the rear or front doors.
One thing after another!!!

Hi, did either of you get to the bottom of this door popping open issue?
I have the same in my 2014 Viano. It hasn’t done it for a while but I would like to find out what it is.

2014 639 Viano- 651, 5sp Auto. 2009 S211- 646, 5sp Auto.
My diagnosis was a faulty micro switch within the lock actuator. It failing to see the door closed or bouncing in transit. Mine was a bitch to allow for the 2 rear doors to lock, but not only.
I searched sites for a like for like replacement but didn't find one.
I've read new actuators are around £140, but haven't 1st hand knowledge as that Viano is now long gone.
Don't be tempted to spray such as WD40 at the actuator as that can saturate into the switch/s.

Thanks, will see what happens over time. Thanks for the tip NOT to be tempted by wd40... it did cross my mind as it did seem to occur more when raining but that might be my imagination.

Hi, I have two Vianos (2012&2014) which both had this issue! After much diagnosis on MB's part and a $700AUD+ bill later, the 2012 was fixed by replacing the door lock as it had "tumbler swith faults"... the 2014 is still faulty and they suggested that they needed to strip the entire roof lining to source the problem rather than try and test with a new lock...

I'm assuming the 2014 is still a 639.
I don't understand what they would achieve by stripping out the roof lining. I'm pretty sure the wiring rises up the B pillar from below. All wiring within the door is then fed via their sprung pins onto the pillar pads that the wiring connects to in the pillar.

Tom.A of interest what mileage and usage are your Viano's?

I don't know how far the door opens but it sounds like MB should be treating this as a safety related recall. Might be worth contacting DVSA.
