I've got a C250 and I get wheel vibrations above speeds of 80mph, any ideas what might be causing this?

Wheel out of balance? Easiest & cheapest first thing to try would be to take it somewhere with decent kit for a full tracking and 4 wheel balance - that should sort it out. Unless one of the wheels is damaged? A damaged wheel could cause vibration. While its up on the lift might be worth getting someone to check the steering damper too if it has one - mine was leaking and needed to be replaced on my C43. Some initial ideas to check at least :)

Cheers,
Mark

If you can drive into the vibration and out of it, its normally wheel balancing, though the prop shaft can also do this, and it is felt in the car.

Sorry that I'm late to the party-so to speak. Having worked in the tyre trade for a few (17) years, I would strongly recommend that you find a tyre centre with some old experienced fitters. Most inexperienced tyre fitters cannot see that a tyre has excessive run out or may be showing early signs of going out of shape. My E240 is wearing 235/40x17 Eagle F1 Goodyears and I get a tremmer through the car at around 80mph. I got the car in September and the previous owner had new rear tyres fitted not long before it was chopped in. I'm betting that my rears need re-balancing as the tyres were probably not seated perfectly when fitted. (I found these very low profile tyres were bastards to seat first time) Its best (although not always easy) to balance the tyres after having covered a few miles first. Some people may say i'm talking rubbish but in tests carried out using this method i found that the balance was perfect and the need to re-balance later was gone. (I havent had mine done yet as i am waiting to visit an old mate who has his own fast fit centre. He will let me do my own balancing ;)
