Views on a E280

I’m thinking of getting a E280 CDi, and just wondered what owners generally think of them? After 3 years of ownership my trusty old C270 decided it didn’t like injector number 4 being in the engine anymore, and decided to spit it out whist doing 65mph on the duel carriageway yesterday, hence I’m looking for something else now, and have spotted a nice E280, but don’t know much about the reliability of these 3 litre engines??

Thanks for your reply. I’m off to look at this E280 tomorrow. Done 109,000 with fsh. It’s a shame my olde C270 injector gave up the ghost. Never seen a injector try to escape from a engine before!!

I bought an E280 in January. She is in very nice condition and only had 88 k on the clock and on a 58 plate. FSH too.
These engines are so smooth and almost bullet proof. Hope your viewing goes well.
I am very pleased with the drive. Just as good as my old E320.

Can’t that be helicoiled, (&bonded) or a s/h head, and a new injector put in, or just not worth it?

Welcome I had a CLK270CDI did 115K miles with almost no problems. I replaced it with a E350CDI about 9 months old, its just coming up to 10 years old. Its a great car.

Cheers for the reply’s. Went and looked at the E280, and also looked at a 55 plate E320 Avantgarde CDi, which I consequently brought (took comfort over speed) also it’s only done 93000 with fsh. Trying to figure out how to pair my phone to the car, which isn’t going well .
