VIN check - what's this?

I've been checking my VIN number on the Russian site and found this code, towards the bottom of the page:

" "954" equipment package for avantgarde vehicles rotating emergeny flasher, front (red light) "

Red emergency flasher???? What's this when its at home?????

Everything else checks out and confirms my CLK's full specification and date of manufacture - thankfully a couple of months after the cut-off date for the radiator/transmission problem.

Where exactly does it say year built. I've looked at mine and there appear to be 2 different dates. What is the right section?

I've got the same thing as well. I think it might refer to the hazard button on the dash, or if not that, to the warning triangle in the boot! I know, I know, nothings rotating, but what else?
Then there is that funny orange light that shines down from the rear view mirror at night. Why should Avantgarde be picked out specially for this? Mine's Avantgarde.
