Hi, hope someone can help me.

I recently purchased a 98 Vito 108D panel van with the standard 2.3 cc diesel engine.

I've had it serviced and mot'd for another year.

When I start it up and press down the accelerator a watery/oily discharge spits out from the exhaust. It does stop after several minutes of driving.

The mechanic who servied the van said this is normal as there's condensation working through the exhaust system which picks up the dirt and thus spits out oily water.

Does this sound correct?... Is there need for me to worry?

Also, the heater is intermittent. Sometimes the fan doesnt work at all and the fan area selector switch doesnt work at all... Any ideas?

Thanks

As to your exhaust query, your mech. is quite correct. A gallon of fuel also produces the same quantity of water so it has to go somewhere. Difference is when system is hot most is expelled as vapour rather than 'dribbles'.
Someone else will have to advise on your heating problem.
