Hi
Looking for advice if possible please

Vito 109cdi. 120k miles.

My vito used to judder slightly in reverse after long drives. I have since replaced clutch and flywheel for price of mind.
Everything was great for approx 1000miles.

A judder has now developed when pulling away or reversing BUT this disappears after approx 10 mins of driving.

I have googled the usual faults and can't see an issue with engine and gear box mounts. I can't feel anything immediately wrong with the prop shaft. (although I will be removing it for a more thorough inspection)

Anyone had this issue that disappears away after a short drive?

Thanks in advance.

Those symptoms suggest the clutch plate is sticking in the splines when cold, usually caused by dirt or grease on the splines. Can also be deposits on the flywheel.
Double check engine mounts - bonnet open so you can see the engine and handbrake on engage reverse and start to let the clutch out. It the engine lifts more than an inch the mount is questionable. Repeat in 1st. If doing one do both.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I will double check the mounts. I have a feeling your clutch plate theory is highly likely the cause.
Will update if I find anything.
Cheers.

Just a follow up here in case anyone has the same issue.

Finally got round to taking the clutch back off yesterday. I had already checked mounts/prop shaft etc.

There were some deposits on clutch surfaces but wasn't sure if it was just off the friction plate.

I cleaned surfaces with thinners, gave the faces a good key with sand paper (pressure plate, flywheel face), then clean everything again with brake/clutch cleaner.

Reassembled. Had a small nightmare with the slave cylinder hose pipe seal leaking. All sorted now. Drives perfect. Whatever I cleaned seem to work.

Cheers for the advice
Iain
