Hello, I have a 2013 Vito 122 with the om642 engine. I have recently had the swirl flaps deleted and mapped out however the van is now intermittently going into limp home mode. When plugged into the star system it is giving the code

P126800 Component Y77/8 (boost pressure regulator) reports a fault

Can anyone please advise me exactly which component this is referring to? Google keeps pointing me in the direction of the turbo actuator which as far as I can tell is Y77/1 And I assume a different component.

Which scanner did you use . ?

Try a different type and see if it also logs it as y77/8.

It was a mercedes star scanner so i believe that code will be correct.

Turbo actuator issues is a common fault - refurbed ones can be had for around £120. Check the the turbo for wear and make sure the vanes are moving smoothly - take actuator arm off (small circlip -tie a wire to it so you don't drop it) and move the lever to check for resistance, If all OK then consider a refurb TA. Assuming there is no issue with the mapping. If there is an issue with the turbo then that is a bigger problem - refurb'd turbo +actuator. Had similar issue with my OM642 TA that was cured with new actuator. Mine had done 130K miles, drove so much better afterwards and fuel economy improved.

i know it’s a common fault but the component the code is suggesting isn’t the actuator it’s y77/8. The actuator is y77/1.

the limp mode has been an issue before the swirl flap issue and them being removed and mapped out. The swirl flaps was a very visible fault. I have no idea what the new one is other than the code unfortunately

Clean the inside hole of the exhaust back pressure sensor , they block up with black gunk . (It’s to the right of the turbo,24mm deep socket, don’t drop the silver washer below it )
The actuator/turbo,egr,exhaust back pressure, swirl flaps/inlet port motor are all on the same fuse so faults on one can look like one of the others (if you know what I’m getting at )
