Vito fumes in cabin

Hi all.
I have a 59 Vito 111 with a new recon engine in (Having suffered black death earlier this year) I'm getting diesel fumes through the air vents for a few days after I go on a long run on Motorways. It's absolutely fine when i'm just doing local stuff, but every time I go on a long journey the bad smell is back accompanied by the headaches etc. Injectors are all clean and dry so it's not them and there doesn't appear to be any leaks in the exhaust either. Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues so I can pass on your pearls of wisdom when I get it back in the garage tomorrow.

Does it smell like hot diesel fuel, or diesel exhaust fumes?

I would say diesel tbh, my first thought when I smelt it was it reminded me off Paraffin. oddly. It only lasts for about a week and then it goes back to smelling just like a hair dryer.

I would sanity check all the leak off pipes etc, its quite possible that there is a small leak at the back of the engine, and that the exhaust only gets hot enough to vaporise the fuel at faster speeds/higher engine loads.

As above, Alexanders has helped me a lot with my Vito in the past and that's what I would have suggested too.
