Hi, has anyone tried to improve the off road traction of their Vito?

My Vito slips at the sight of grass, let alone wet grass and mud! I now have a livestock trailer to pull across grass which presents even more of a challenge, so I'm looking for ways to improve off road traction.

I've looked at all terrain tyres, but the nearest ones I can find size wise are the BF Goodrich All Terrain 225/70R16, which have a diameter over 5% bigger than my current tyres (205/65R16). The weight loading of the Goodrich looks a little on the low side also.

Has anyone tried running all terrain on their Vito?

Good tyres will help but basically your problem with the 'van' is lack of weight over the 'rear' driven wheels. People comment on various forums that front wheel drive is better than rear wheel drive when it comes to traction on snow etc but that is nonsense, the reason is weight over the driven wheels.

Front wheel drive has by default the weight over the driven wheels, but in reality pulling a load is easier than pushing a load..
